Simmons Bank Honors Gold Star Families
2024 AutoZone Liberty Bowl
Simmons Bank honored Gold Star Families at the 66th AutoZone Liberty Bowl game between Texas Tech and the University of Arkansas, played at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium. The day’s activities kicked off with a special tailgate for the families, followed by a march to the Liberty Park Gold Star Families Memorial Monument to pay tribute to fallen service members. During the halftime ceremony, the Swindle family was honored on the field, receiving recognition for their sacrifices alongside other Gold Star families in attendance.
Sgt. Jason M. Swindle from Cabot, Arkansas, joined the Army at the age of 17 and served two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan, earning the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Combat Infantryman Badge. He made the ultimate sacrifice on September 20, 2012, at the age of 24 in Panjwa'l, Afghanistan. At the time, he and his wife Chelsey had a one-year-old son, and she was pregnant with their second child, who was born on Sgt. Swindle's birthday. His family, including Chelsey, their sons Paxton (13) and Jason “JJ” (12), and his brothers John and Sam, were present to honor his memory. A devoted Razorbacks fan, Sgt. Swindle's passion for the team lives on through his loved ones.
We are proud to continue the tradition of honoring Gold Star Families through our partnership with the Woody Williams Foundation, which is dedicated to supporting America’s Gold Star families. Thank you to everyone who made this event special for our Gold Star families.
